Q: Do you still offer piercing?
A: We regretfully no longer offer piercing at YST, but ask your artist and they can direct you to a reputable piercing shop that will meet your needs.
Q: Do tattoos hurt?
A: There is a mild discomfort associated with tattooing. Most people find the pain to be a minor factor.
Q: How old do you have to be to get a tattoo?
A: You must be 18 years of age with valid, government-issued photo ID to get tattooed. Some exceptions may be made for customers as young as 16 years of age with signed parental consent.
Q: Do you meet Toronto Public Health standards?
A: YST's standards of hygiene meet and exceed the strictest guidelines set by Toronto Public Health. We use only single-use, pre-packaged needles and tubes, which are opened in front of the client. Feel free to ask your artist to see our latest public health inspection results.
Q: What is your minimum charge and hourly rate?
A: Our shop minimum is $80. This covers the cost of supplies, no matter how simple the tattoo. For larger projects, our hourly rate starts at $150+ and will vary from artist to artist. For a more specific estimate, contact your chosen artist and book a free consultation.
Q: I have an idea for a big tattoo. How can I get it started?
A: For a large, custom designed tattoo, you'll need to set up a consultation and pay a deposit to see finished art. A typical consultation session is free and lasts half an hour to an hour. This allows for you to tell your artist about your idea, budget, style, ideal size and body placement. They will trace the area for your tattoo and take down any other necessary information. To go forward with the design, your artist will require a non-refundable deposit of $50 that will go towards the last session of your tattoo.
